Carolyn Smuts and Steve Loring have written together for years both on their own projects and on projects for clients. Their joint short stories and articles have been published in books, magazines, and newspapers. A second pair of eyes on every manuscript is what inspired the “Written and Rewritten” concept.
Psychopoetica, SPIN, Billboard, The Los Angeles Times, and The Orange County Register are only a few places Steve Loring’s work has appeared. Loring’s background in film and screenwriting is evident in his written dialog, though he’s spent much of his adult life as a lyricist—a vocation that helps him bring dark, poetic twists to the fiction he writes.
Freelance writer Carolyn Smuts holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in history and enjoyed extensive academic work before fleeing to become a writer-for-hire. Prior to that, she survived a 7-year stint working at Disneyland and an exciting array temporary positions ranging from German steel imports to Pennsylvania coal mines.

Carolyn’s work has appeared in the Orange County Register, the Los Angeles Times, the Ventura County Reporter, Woman’s Day, Glamour, Level Renner, Family Circle, Self, Ultimate Motorcycling, Businessweek, and Creative Living magazines.

In addition, she has written books, professional and trade publications, including online content, though as a certified Ghostwriter, much of her work and clientele are confidential.
Both Steve and Carolyn live in Southern California.

“When I read through my manuscript, it was hard for me to remember that Steve wrote it.
It was exactly what I wanted to say and how I wanted to say it. Thank you!”
